God's Love

This Sunday, we learned that God's love is SO deep and SO wide that it cannot be measured. We learned all about measuring by using a tape to measure many different things in the room. Each of the kids took a try at jumping as high as they could and we marked it on paper. We also decorated our own rules with stickers.

During our Bible story, we learned that God is like a shepherd. One sheep got lost, but the shepherd loved the sheep so much that he searched and searched until he found the sheep and brought him back to the heard. This is how much God loves us. Even when we get lost, God loves us so much that he searches for us and brings us back.

Our verse this week is Ephesians 3:18 - "How wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ."

This week, if you want to continue learn about sheep and measuring, you can make a sheep pen with masking tape on the floor and scatter cotton balls around the room. Then, you can round up all of the lost "sheep" and put them back into the pen while you talk about how much God loves them.

You can also take out the kitchen measuring spoons and measure water out into a measuring cup.

See you next Sunday!!

We Can Talk To God And He Heals Us

This week we finished up our last January lesson focusing on prayer. We learned that we can talk to God, and God can talk to us!! God can also heal us. This was an ESPECIALLY good lesson for us to hear this week because we had many coughs and runny noses in our class!

Here are some fun things that you can do this week!

Make get well cards for someone sick and pray for them when you deliver the card.

Take toilet paper and wrap your legs like the lame man in our Bible story and reenact it.

See you next Sunday!!

We Can Talk to Jesus

On January 20th, we learned that we can talk to Jesus. We heard the story of the woman with the perfume who loved Jesus so much that she bowed down and washed His feet with her tears. She also gave Jesus her VERY special perfume. She did this as as a way to worship Him because she loved Him VERY much.

We practiced our Bible verse: "Continue praying, keeping alert, and always thanking God." Colossians 4:2 We also sang our new song "Hey I Can Pray."

The kids were allowed to see a very pretty bottle of perfume and smell it to give them an idea of how special the woman's perfume was that she gave to Jesus.

As a craft, we colored and decorated a picture of the woman washing Jesus' feet.

See you next Sunday!

I can say THANK YOU!

This week in Luke 17:11-19, we learned that we can talk to God and thank Him. There were once 10 lepers (someone who has lots of boo-boos on their skin that make them really sick). They had to wear bandages ALL the time! One day, they heard that Jesus was coming, and they knew that they could talk to Him because he ALWAYS is ready to listen! They ran and called out to Jesus, asking him to help them!
He heard the lepers calling out to Him and he HELPED them. He made their boo-boos go away!! They were SO happy!
When the lepers learned that they were all better, they got so excited that they ran away...except for ONE man. He turned around, and ran back to Jesus. He knew that it was VERY important that he needed to tell Jesus "thank you."

Just like that man, we can wake up each morning and say thank you to Jesus. We counted to 10 many different times and different ways to remember the 10 lepers that were healed!

At home this week, you can make this cool craft showing that Jesus healed 10 Lepers but only ONE said "Thank you!"

You can also make and decorate these men to remind you that Jesus can heal us!

Jesus loves it when we talk to Him and tell Him thank you for all of the things that He does for us. This week, practice saying thank you to Jesus. You can thank Him for things like your family, friends, rain, sunshine, etc.

Parents, you can learn all sorts of fun things to do with your kids as well as what they are learning at church through the ParentCue app! It is available for iPhone, iPad, and Android!

God Healed the Soldier's Servant

This week, we learned that we can talk to God anytime and ask for help. In Matthew 8:5-13 and Luke 7:1-10 we learned about the Roman centurion that asked Jesus to heal his sick servant. Jesus listened to the centurion and made his servant all better! Jesus is the only one who could do that. We learned that a centurion is a soldier and that they are special people who work hard to keep people safe. When we asked what Jesus did for the soldier, Luke Borgogna said that Jesus made them unsick. What a great saying! Be unsick!!
To help us remember that God can heal us when we are sick, we doctored up some sick baby dolls!
The rest of this month is about prayer and talking to God. Parents, we encourage you to make time and find places to pray about and thank God for everything. To help you remember the things that you are in prayer about, you can make this Prayer Book to write your requests, praises, and answers to prayer in!

Parents, we would like to WELCOME you to a new year at Momentum Preschool. We really look forward to all of the great things that we have coming up. It is SO exciting to see the kids grow and mature in knowing Jesus. We would like to welcome our 2 new friends to our class: Gabriel Strickland and Gabriel Johnson!!

Have a great week of praying, and we will see you on Sunday!

Fun Photos From 12/16/12

Check out some photos of us having fun at service on December 16, 2012!!

We learned about the shepherds and that the angels told them not to be afraid because Jesus was born.

We took some shaving cream and a q-tip to make fur for our sheep, we made bell bracelets, and we blew cotton balls into the hoola hoop to get all of our "sheep" in the "pen." The shepherds were the first ones to know about Jesus being born, and He is our gift to us.

In the prayer spot, we thanked God that we are able to be with our families at Christmas. We also prayed for the soldiers and those who are not able to spend Christmas with their families.

We also had froggy dressed up as an angel!

Just a reminder, there is no service on December 31, 2012. Enjoy your holiday!!!

Why is Jesus special?

On December 2, we examined the question "Why is Jesus special?" The answer, of course, is that Jesus is God's Son. Our Bible story came from Luke 1:26-33,38,46 where the angel told Mary that she would have a special baby.

We ate angels made out of cheese, crackers, and chocolate chips for eyes.
We colored angels with gold cupcake wings.
We made snow angels!
We also started learning our new scripture for the month John 3:16 - "God loved the world so much that He gave His only Son.” (GNT) Feel free to practice this at home with motions! We will provide a link to the motions on the sidebar of this page!

The prayer this month is to remember that everything we do to celebrate Jesus birthday is an act of worship unto our Lord. One way that we are worshipping our Lord is by learning the song "Away in a Manger" but with an upbeat style!

We would also like to welcome Simon Bigger as our newest student volunteer!!

Our focus this month is the manger scene and Jesus' birth, and you can do several activities at home to remind your child of this special event:
  1. Play a memory game with baby items. Instructions: Place on a tray baby items pacifier, lotion etc. and talk about how God gave us baby Jesus. Cover tray with a towel or napkin and see how many items you can remember that were on the tray.
  2. Make handprint angels. Instructions: http://www.kinderart.com/crafts/handprintangels.shtml
  3. Make crafts that remind us of baby Jesus. Here is a website that has several craft ideas for making ornaments, pictures, decorations, etc. that involve baby Jesus. http://happyhomefairy.com/2011/12/02/baby-jesus-crafts/
