Zaccheus

This week, our Bible story was about Zaccheus.  He was not doing what was right because he was taking from other people.  One day, Zaccheus heard Jesus was coming to town.  Zaccheus tried to see Jesus but he was too short to see over the crowd. So, he climbed into a sycamore tree.  Zaccheus saw Jesus and Jesus saw him in the tree.  He told Zaccheus to come down because he wanted to go visit Zaccheus's house.  After Jesus spent time with Zaccheus, Zaccheus learned to do the right thing.

We sang our song: "Deep and Wide" about how deep and wide God's love is for us.  Then we sang a song about Zaccheus.

Our verse is Ephesians 3:18, and we practiced saying our verse quietly and loudly.

For craft time, we colored a picture of Zaccheus in the tree.  We used pieces if green tissue paper to glue on the trees like leaves.

Have a great week, and we will see you on Sunday!

God Wants Us To Love Others

Over the last 2 weeks we have learned that God's love cannot be measured. We have had a lot of fun meeting Oliva Measuring who measures everything! This past week Oliva Measuring measured a giraffe's tail.

We learned that God wants us to love others. To illustrate that, we made Valentine cards to give to someone that we love. We also made pretzels with peanut butter and bird seed to love our feathered friends.

Here are some fun activities that you can do with your child this week to continue the lesson:

Make cookies and take to a someone you love. Let the children help measure all the ingredients and talk about God's love for us cannot be measured.

Trace around your child's profile onto paper and put band-aids on the paper. Talk about the story of the Good Samaritan and how he helped the man who was beaten. Discuss how much God wants us to love others and take care of them.

Visit your neighbor and take flowers.

Have a great week, and we will see you on Sunday!

God's Love

This Sunday, we learned that God's love is SO deep and SO wide that it cannot be measured. We learned all about measuring by using a tape to measure many different things in the room. Each of the kids took a try at jumping as high as they could and we marked it on paper. We also decorated our own rules with stickers.

During our Bible story, we learned that God is like a shepherd. One sheep got lost, but the shepherd loved the sheep so much that he searched and searched until he found the sheep and brought him back to the heard. This is how much God loves us. Even when we get lost, God loves us so much that he searches for us and brings us back.

Our verse this week is Ephesians 3:18 - "How wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ."

This week, if you want to continue learn about sheep and measuring, you can make a sheep pen with masking tape on the floor and scatter cotton balls around the room. Then, you can round up all of the lost "sheep" and put them back into the pen while you talk about how much God loves them.

You can also take out the kitchen measuring spoons and measure water out into a measuring cup.

See you next Sunday!!
